INDIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER VISITS INEC
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission,
Professor Maurice Iwu, has acknowledged the immense support
and contribution which Nigeria’s relationship with
India has had on the evolution of electoral process in Nigeria.

High Commissioner in Nigeria paid him a courtesy call, said
Nigeria and India share some characteristics including high
population and land mass that could some time present hindrances
to the conduct of electoral activities.
He said that India’s use of the Electronic Voting
Machine (EVM) during the last election two years ago contributed
to the acclaimed huge success of the elections in India
and underscores the benefits which any country stands to
enjoy from a highly mechanized electoral process confers
on the polity even where there is a perceived low level
of education.
The INEC Chairman assured the Indian envoy that the Commission
will continue to nurture the already existing cordial relations
between it and Indian companies whose technological successes
have providing alternatives in the Commission’s search
for viable options in the implementation of the logistic
arrangement and the Electronic Voting System.
The Indian High Commission said he was in the INEC Chairman’s
office to commend the Commission on its activities so far
