COMMISSIONER, INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION

MOHAMMED ABDULLAHI ABUBAKAR ESQ.
MOHAMMED ABDULLAHI ABUBAKAR was born on 11TH December, 1956 in Gombe State. He attended Tudun Wada for his primary education and Government College Kano  for Secondary Education. He obtained his B.L Degree in Law at A.B.U. Zaria, LL.M in Law at the University of Jos. He has attended of several professional courses, including Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA) London Legislative Drafting Course; Advanced Practice and procedure course - Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Lagos; Seminar on Petroleum Law – Institute of Advanced Legal Studies Lagos; Seminar of Negotiation and Drafting of Internal Agreements – Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja. He has been a member of several Professional Bodies including, Chairman Nigerian Bar Association Bauchi State 1998-1999; Member body of Benchers 1990-1993; Member Legal Practitioners disciplinary committee 1990-1993; Member Council for Legal education, Bauchi State 1990-1993; Member Commonwealth Association of Parliamentary Council; Member Commonwealth Lawyers Association; Member NYSC Governing Board, Bauchi State-1998.

He was formally a Pupil State Council, Ministry of Justice, Bauchi state 1978-1981; State Counsel grade 11, Ministry of Justice, Bauchi State 1980-1981; Senior Parliamentary Counsel Grade 11, Bauchi State House of Assembly 1981, Senior Parliamentary Counsel Grade 1 1983;Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, Yankari Game Reserve and Tourism Company Limited 1984-1986;Principal State Counsel, Ministry of Justice Bauchi State- 1987; Acting Director Civil Litigations 1987-1988;Director of Public Prosecutions (D.P.P) 1986-1990; Honorable Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice 1990-1991; Honorable Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice 1992-1993; Managing Partner, M.A Abubakar & Co (Fortuna Chambers) 1993-1998; Resident Electoral Commissioner, (INEC) Kogi State 1998-1999;Resident Electoral Commissioner, (INEC) Delta State 1999; Resident Electoral Commissioner, (INEC) Plateau State 1999-2002; Resident Electoral Commissioner, (INEC) Rivers State 2002-2003; He is presently a National Electoral Commissioner. He is married with children.
