Ishmael Jikiri Igbani was born in Nkoro, Rivers State on the 17th August 1941 . He had his Primary education at St. Simon's School, Ikuru Town and St. Cyprian's School, Port Harcourt and Secondary schools at Government College , Umuahia. He bagged a B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture University of Ibadan in 1964. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Extension and Rural Sociology in 1967. He then proceeded to the university of Wisconsin , Madison , Wisconsin , USA where he obtained a Ph.D in Extension and Rural Sociology.

Ishmael Jikiri Igbani He was formally, Federal Minister of State for Industries (1979-1983), Federal Minister of Works and Housing (Oct.-Dec.,1983), Member, Presidential Task Force on Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation (Sept. 2003), Director, Intercontinental Distillers, Ltd, Ikeja (1997).

Ishmael Jikiri Igbani is married with Two Children. He is a workaholic and loves Gardening and Reading.
